Encouragement from II Corinthians

In our team devotionals this week, Marc Fey has been sharing words of encouragement from his studies in II Corinthians.  Starting in chapter 3, verse 18 we find:

"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.  Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.  Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God.  On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God."  II Corinthians 3:18-4:2

These passages have proved to remind us that it truly is about what God is doing in the minds and hearts of believers world-wide.  Paul continues to exhort the church to continue pressing on toward the goal, that

"we are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."  II Corinthians 4: 8,9

So, if you are experiencing hard-times, persecution or simply struggles in your small group and thinking about simply ditching this entire strategy, keep pressing on, knowing that the Lord is doing His work in bringing about this great transformation in the lives of all those who join your study.  Take heart, keep the faith and remember their is a great freedom knowing it's not about us, but all about Him.

Scottsdale Bible Church Conference

This past weekend, we were delighted to have 1125 people from 33 states and two foreign countries join us at Scottsdale Bible Church just outside Phoenix, Arizona.  For those of you who joined us, thank you for making the event a great success.

We also had the privilege to travel down to Tuscon on Sunday morning and worship at Catalina Foothills Church.  Del spoke briefly in the service and then we were treated to lunch by friends of the ministry.

Our team arrived back home to cold Colorado Springs on Sunday, with light snow falling throughout the day.  We sure do miss sunny, warm Arizona!

Thank you again to Jeff Edwards at Scottsdale Bible, Cathi Herrod and her team at the Center for Arizona Policy and all our new friends in Arizona, it was a great weekend!

TTP In San Diego

This past weekend, we had an excellent local training conference in San Diego, California at the College Avenue Baptist Church.  Our local partner, the California Family Council, helped promote and sponsor the event which mobilized over 400 attendees throughout Southern California.

Tomorrow, we are off to Phoenix for a regional conference, and we expect well over one thousand attendees this weekend.  We covet your prayers for Dr. Tackett and our team during this busy travel season.

A Busy New Year

Well, it's here, 2008 has come at last and for our team it looks to be yet another year filled with opportunities for greater impact in the Kingdom.  Each new year brings a fresh start to our lives, seemingly beginning with a "tabula rosa", or clean slate on which our lives are painted.  Our prayer is that you will see this new year the Lord has given as an opportunity to advance His Kingdom on this earth.

We are gearing up for several events in the first quarter of the year.  Next week, our team travels to San Diego to hold a local training conference where we expect up to 300 small group leaders in attendance.  The third week of January, we travel south to sunny Phoenix to host a regional training conference at Scottsdale Bible Church.  In February, we trade in the sun and warmth of Southern California and Arizona for the snow and cold of Minnesota, as we train small group leaders on February 9th in Hastings, MN.

Whatever your plans and dreams for this new year, we pray you will join us in putting all our hopes, dreams, opportunities and threats in the hands of the One who holds everything together in His master plan.  May we find ourselves and our plans lost in the plans of God, as He continues to fulfill His Kingdom on this earth.

Happy New Year!
